Peels Glass Transfers

bring you the beauty of stained glass

Your questions answered

 What about large windows?

A large window completed using grids and bordersAs the designs are based within a "standard grid" this allows for extending any design. If your window is larger than the standard glass transfer, you can use extension sheets (see examples: and ) or perhaps, two or more of the same design, or maybe introduce a neutral pattern transfer from our Period Style range to surround the main design. (see examples: and )

You can also use our "Classic Border" to compliment any design, (see example: )or by itself it will add colour to any window. Why not create a border using lead strip in combination with a Period Style pattern surrounding your main design. (see example: )

You can also use offcuts from the grid of the main design. When used as borders, these can be offset rather than lining up each line for a creative effect. (see example: )

Very tall, or long narrow windows?

For long or narrow windows, why not use two designs end to end. We have several designs that are well suited to this use. (see examples: - - - - - ) For more information, you can download an e-catalogue in pdf format, or UK customers can send for our Information Pack which includes samples you can try on your own windows. Our catalogue contains our price list, plus over 100 designs and colourways starting at £16.99 for a sheet size 960mm x 680mm (37.5" x 26.5"). For the printed catalogue and samples (which are only available to UK customers) please send your name and address to our address at the foot of this page. Please if you can, tell us where you heard about us. Peels always respect the privacy of all personal details.

Patio Doors?

"Trellis" on patio doors gives added visibility and safety"Trellis Clear" is made specially for where the "lead" grid is not required. Used on its own as shown, or in combination with "Classic Border" it can make patio doors more beautiful, more visible, and therefore safer. A Suncatcher could also be ideal in this situation

Remember that it is not necessary to cover the entire area of the glass. (see examples: and )

Peels 'Visuals' are ideal for patio doors as well. Follow this link to see all the Peels 'Visuals' (or click the squares to see these photo examples: - - - - and ) Peels 'Visuals' are 960mm long by various heights.

I Have Small Windows

There are several designs to suit fanlights and transoms. Toplights can be enhanced either with plain colours or acid etched Period Style patterns or from our range of smaller designs. (see examples: and ). There are also some where you can choose your own house number to be included in the design. (see example:)

You can also use sections from "Trellis" or any of the Period Style designs to make even the smallest, and most unusual shaped window special. Palladian will usually fit 3,6 or 9 panel doors and is designed for this purpose. (see examples: and )

You can also use an acid etched design from our Period Style range in a similar way.

Period Style Windows and Doors

Window kit in useFor those who want to turn a plain glass door into a classic period one, we have a range of Period Style designs that will make your door unique. Why not use something similar above your front door? These classic designs work just as well horizontally.    You would need 2 pattern sheets or plain colours, four corners, and 4.3 metres (14 ft) of 9mm wide self adhesive lead. (see examples: - - )   For more information, you can download an e-catalogue in pdf format, or UK customers can send for our Information Pack which includes samples you can try on your own windows. Our catalogue contains our price list, plus over 100 designs and colourways starting at £16.99 for a sheet size 960mm x 680mm (37.5" x 26.5"). What about condensation and heat

'Peels' are not affected.

Will the colours fade?

Proven light-fast over many years and 'Peels' are guaranteed for five years   Peels use authentic colours and as with original stained glass it may not be necessary or possible to co-ordinate exactly with your interior decor. Also, because each person's colour monitor and browser interpts colours slightly differently, the on-screen colours may not be exact. So to make sure you see the most accurate colours, UK customers can send for our information pack which includes samples of our product which you can examine and try on your own windows. Our catalogue contains our price list, plus over 100 designs and colourways starting at £16.99 for a sheet size 960mm x 680mm (37.5" x 26.5"). Just send your name and address to our address at the foot of this page. Please if you can, tell us where you heard about us. Peels always respect the privacy of all personal details.

Patterned, dimpled or etched glass?

'Peels' glass transfers should be applied to the smoother side of such glass. If it is a heavily patterned, dimpled or etched glass. The transfer can be applied to clear acrylic sheet. This in turn can be fitted over the existing glazing, with small pieces of double-sided tape.

Existing leaded lights?

'Peels' glass transfers can be applied to a clear acrylic sheet and fitted in place behind your existing glazing. "Trellis" and our Period Style range are ideal for this use.

Awkward shapes?

Window glazing bars and complex curves are not a problem if you cut a card template first. Draw around the template shape onto the transfer and cut accordingly. (see examples: and )

Can I get half sheets?

Yes, we are happy to supply half sheets of selected transfers. These can be cut "top to bottom" or "side to side" depending on the design. Please ask for our information pack for further details.   This also applies to the Extension Sheets (the plain leaded light effect).   Individual strips of "Classic Border" 635mm x 38mm (25" x 1.5") and "Decorative Strips" 660mm length (26.5") can also be added at the time of purchase. For more information, you can download an e-catalogue in pdf format, or UK customers can send for our Information Pack which includes samples you can try on your own windows. Our catalogue contains our price list, plus over 100 designs and colourways starting at £16.99 for a sheet size 960mm x 680mm (37.5" x 26.5"). I need even more privacy and security

All 'Peels' glass transfers are supplied unfrosted but if you require seclusion we can supply any design with an overall frosting. There is no extra charge, but you need to indicate your choice on the order form.

Textured background?

All 'Peels' glass transfers are printed with a textured background to give the modelling effect of stained glass, the only exceptions being "Trellis Clear" and the Period Style range. See more about the difference between 'Texture' and 'Frosting' on our video page. See also: Frosting

Is there a helpline?

Yes. If you need further details or help to make your selection, you can email anytime, or fax / phone 020 8948 0689 between 10.00am and 5.00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

How long to deliver?

Most orders are dispatched within 10 working days of receipt of your order.

Can I buy from outside the UK?

Yes - see ' Ordering and Payment Options' for more details,

If you are overseas and don't want to use a credit card, you can send your requirements on our printed order form (include your email address) or tell us what you want to order in an email.

We will then email you the total cost, including shipping and any currency exchange charges.

We cannot exchange or refund a glass transfer if it has been removed in any way from the backing sheet as it would no longer be a saleable item. Of course, this would not apply in the unlikely event that one of our products proved to be faulty on receipt.

How do they work?

The quick answer is they work like the tax disc holder that lives in your car windscreen year after year, doing its job of sticking to the window without glue or mess.

You will receive full instructions with your order (click here to download the instructions now in pdf format) and although simple to apply we offer some points to observe.

There is always a small shrinkage over the width of the design so please allow 10mm for trimming.

Use enough soapy water on the glass and the surface of your Peel to enable sliding into position and removing all the air bubbles.

Peels love glass and cling to it but they curl up at the thought of overlapping anything other than the glass - seriously!

The side that clings to the backing sheet is the side that will now be applied to the glass - Peels will not adhere to frosted or heavily patterned glass but try your sample on the other side of the glass which is usually smoother. Peels do not fall off otherwise!

Our 'smoothing tool' or a piece of card is best to use as any grit left on the glass will embed in the card and not scratch your Peel.

Classic Border and Decorative strips need to be applied without stretching as they could shrink or curl back leaving a gap.

What size are the sheets?

The standard sheets are 960mm x 680mm (that's 37.5" x 26.5").

Depending on the design, some sheets are available as half sheets, cut in half vertically, or sometimes as half sheets cut horizontally.

The Classic Borders are 635mm x 38mm (25" x 1.5") and available in full sheets (17 per sheet) or in half sheets (8 per sheet) or as single strips

Decorative Strips sizes are:

Designs 57A to 57D are 26.5" x 40 mm.

Designs 58 to 60: A to D are 26.5" x 30 mm

The corners are 150mm (6") square and the designs within them are 100mm (4") square, so our corners will fit any size from 100mm to 150mm (4" to 6")

Designs No.42 (Finsbury Square) and No.68 (London Squares)- have 70 mm ( 3") squares

Design No.61 (Tiles) - has 125mm (5") squares

Peels 'Visuals' series (76C to 80C) are 960mm long by various heights. See the Visuals page for more details

The self-adhesive lead strip is 9mm wide and 4.3m (that's 14 feet) long.

We have over 100 designs and colourways. Our designs start at £16.99 for a sheet size 960mm x 680mm (37.5" x 26.5")

What does 'Frosted' mean?

All our designs are printed with a textured background to give the modelling effect of stained glass, the only exceptions being "Trellis Clear" and the Period Style range.

However, if you require seclusion (so you get even more privacy) we will add a frosted glass effect at no extra cost for you. Y

ou simply choose this at the time of ordering. See more about the difference between 'Texture' and 'Frosting' on our video page.

What about returns?

We are happy to exchange designs within fourteen days but they must not have been removed from the backing sheet in any way unless of course there is a fault!

To avoid unnecessary returns please request a sample for checking if you are unsure of your choice.

Our postal charges are minimal therefore we ask you to pay the postage for exchanges.

There is no additional charge for frosting, but as this is done to order there is a small surcharge on returns of multiple sheets.

Is there a guarantee?

We are confident you will be pleased with your purchase and if for some reason you are not, please phone us to sort things out.

Peels are guaranteed for five years and have proven light fast over many years.

How are they made?

We have over 100 designs divided between Stained Glass and Period Etched Glass. They are hand printed on Self Cling material using Silk Screen Process. The designs are on a backing sheet and the colours will appear quite dark before removal and seen against the light. Apart from design No.37 Trellis clear, all the designs have a unique texture effect, which mimics characteristics of stained glass. This texture colour will not be really apparent when removed from the backing sheet nor lead to any noticeable light loss.

Better Safety at Home

As well as adding beauty and value to your home, our window film can help avoid accidents. You can use frosted film and other designs on internal and external doors to make them more visible (see examples: and ). This can help to stop children running into them if they are closed and 'invisible' because they are clear.

The film can also help to minimise the risk of personal injury from splinters and shards of glass if the glass is broken accidentally

We hope this is helpful to you and we will be pleased to hear any suggestions you would like to make.
